Vision of WHAD
The vision of WHAD is:
"A Society without discriminations of communalism, casteism, age or gender
where value for humanism, peace, equity and harmony are established
for sustainable change over time."
The mission of WHAD is:
to enable women to become self reliant, both economically and socially,
while facilitating preconditions for children
to have access to childhood opportunities to fulfill their rights,
whereby, women and children, together will constitute the medium for change
to establish a better place and improved quality of life in society.
A Brief Introduction
WHAD was established in the year 1993 as an organization for Women Health and Development with a Women's clinic in a slum in Bangalore where the Board Members volunteered to serve.
Starting with a one-room clinic, WHAD today works among a population of about 400,000, including women from various strata of the society, extending to the Women in Sex Work, Children of Sex Workers, Child Labourers and Street Children, Children from the general population, further extending to the welfare of Men in the society. WHAD believes in holistic development of the society through participatory action at the community level and local institutional development.
